Job Description

As a Maritime Instructor (Deck), you get the opportunity to shape the next generation of maritime and defence industry personnel. This position requires a strong foundation in maritime operations, excellent teaching abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high training standards.

Key responsibilities include to:

  • Design and develop comprehensive training programmes that align with industry standards and best practices.
  • Develop and deliver engaging and informative lectures, practical demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions on various maritime subjects.
  • Assess student performance through examinations, practical assessments, and ongoing feedback to ensure understanding and competency.
  • Stay current with developments in maritime regulations, technologies, and teaching methodologies to provide up-to-date information.
  • Collaborate with industry professionals to enhance course content and ensure relevance to current maritime trends.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and feedback for continuous improvement of training delivery.
  • Provide mentorship and support to students throughout their learning journey to foster confidence and skill development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance personal teaching skills and knowledge within the maritime sector.

 About You

  • A demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training programmes using a range of innovative and flexible delivery and assessment methods.
  • Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in training and assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Master up to 45m Near Coastal, inc. MED 2, and/or
  • STCW Integrated Rating (or above), and/or
  • Officer of the Watch Unlimited (or above) and/or
  • Appropriately qualified RAN personnel
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or ability to achieve).
